Thank you for agreeing to join our panel and participate in our important TV and Radio ratings project. Your household will now have the chance to let TV and Radio stations know which programs you enjoy.
The video below will provide you with an overview of all equipment and materials which we have sent to you. If you have any questions, please refer to the included ‘How to Use Your Meter’ guide or contact us at 1-866-548-8991 (households in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland or Prince Edward Island) or 1-866-730-7960 (households in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba).
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Our Meter Panel comprises a group of randomly selected households whose individual members are requested to carry special electronic devices – Portable People Meters (PPM) – in order to track their Radio listening and TV viewing habits. The data gathered by these devices is automatically downloaded at the end of each day, then processed by Numeris and released to clients electronically.
Easy to use, the PPM automatically detects what you listen to on the Radio and watch on TV by picking up encoded signals sent out by broadcasters. These signals are silent to the human ear.
While your PPM can detect a station’s signal if sound is coming from your Radio or TV, rest assured it will not detect or record human conversation or any other household sounds.
You should note that we combine your data with that of other panel members to produce ratings about groups of people, not individual people or individual households, and we never disclose the names, addresses or phone numbers of panel members. In other words, your privacy will not be compromised.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
On the top of each PPM there is a motion detector and a light. As long as you’re wearing your PPM, the light will be green, and as long as the light is green, your PPM is working.
To participate in our Meter Panel, all you have to do is wear the PPM provided to you. Please note, it’s essential that you always wear your own PPM rather than one belonging to another member of your household.
In order for us to accurately capture your radio and TV habits, we ask that you wear your PPM as you go about your daily activities from the moment you wake up. That means wearing it at home, in the car, at work, at school, out shopping, etc.
At the end of each day, simply place your PPM into the portable charger provided and it will be ready to record your media exposure the next day.
GETTING STARTED
If you don’t have it yet, you should soon be receiving a box containing your PPM equipment. Look at the accompanying Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to set up the device for each household member. After charging your PPM for 12 hours, you’ll be ready to go. Please remember to wear it all day and charge it at night.
Once set-up is complete, we suggest all participants review the How to Use Your Personal Meter Guide enclosed as it contains valuable information about being a meter panel member.
In your equipment box, you’ll find a single Household Questionnaire, as well as one Panel Member Questionnaire for each member of your household. You’ll also find a Certificate of Appreciation enclosed. This document outlines the confidentiality agreement between you and Numeris. Kindly return all completed questionnaires along with the Certificate of Appreciation in the postage-paid envelope provided.
Within a few days of receiving your equipment, a member of our Regional Panel Administration team will call to welcome you and let you know about the many incentives Numeris offers to participants, such as reward points, anniversary gifts and weekly/monthly gift and cash draws – because we want your experience with Numeris to be rewarding.
And one last thing; you’ll find a token of appreciation inside your equipment box. Please enjoy with our thanks!

What is Numeris' Meter Panel?
Once I've joined, how long must I stay on the panel?
What should I tell people who ask about my PPM?
Will the equipment interfere with my Radio or TV reception?
No, the equipment won’t interfere with your reception. You’ll continue to receive the same stations that are available to you now.
Will the PPM still pick up the signal if my TV is on mute?
Does listening to more Radio or watching more TV increase my reward points?
No. Reward points are related to the amount of time you wear the PPM each week. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you listen to the radio or watch TV.
Sometimes I listen to the Radio on the Internet, through my cable TV or via Podcasts. Will my PPM pick up these signals?
Yes. Your PPM will detect all types of radio signals. If necessary, please use your headphone adapter when listening to any of these types of broadcasts.
What if I drop my PPM in the water or on the ground?
What if we take a vacation?
Will someone need to visit my home to hook up the equipment?
How will my Panel Administrator contact me?
Why was my household chosen?
How did you get my name and telephone number?
What if I didn't choose the station I'm watching or listening too?
If I'm watching a TV show on my tablet or smart phone, do I still need to wear my PPM?
If my entire family goes out for the day, should we take all of our PPMs with us or will one suffice?
Do I need to push any buttons on my meter or do anything special?
Should I contact you if a family member moves out or somebody new moves in?
